Under-16s go free as fans and families set to be entertained over the entire day with a superb line up of live music, trick shot shows, activities and much more at Gleneagles in September 2019

Scotland, Friday 19 April 2019: The Opening Ceremony Day of The 2019 Solheim Cup is set to kick off the biennial event in style with a festival of live music, entertainment and family activities at Gleneagles on Thursday 12 September.

Tickets for the Opening Ceremony Day are just £10 per adult and free for those aged 16 and under, and the aim is to make the event accessible and appealing to people of all ages and backgrounds, from golf fanatics to those who have never previously been to a sports event.

As well as the exciting build-up to Scotland’s biggest sporting spectacle of 2019, there will be a host of off-course entertainment in the Spectator Village. Orcadian folk quartet FARA, the all-female contemporary Highland dancing group Flings and Things and Morrison’s Academy Pipe Band are the live acts already confirmed, and more names and celebrities will be announced in due course.

Hosted by highly respected sports presenters Di Dougherty and Andrew Cotter, the Opening Ceremony Day will begin at midday and will wow spectators throughout the afternoon before the Captains, Catriona Matthew and Juli Inkster, and their respective European and American teams are presented in front of the live television cameras for the official Opening Ceremony.

For people new to golf, there will be plenty to give a taste of this great sport, from putting greens and hitting areas, to trick shot shows and big screens. With free face painting, temporary tattoos and interactive activities, there will be something for everyone and it is set to be a true celebration of a world-class sporting occasion.

Following the Opening Ceremony Day on Thursday, which will also include the opportunity to see both teams practise on course, the matches will be played across Friday, Saturday and Sunday. As per the Opening Ceremony Day, children under 16 will be admitted free of charge across all competition days with a paying adult.
